A Different Kind of Immigration Advisory

Most immigration firms measure success by volume. We measure it by outcome. Invest Visa NZ works with a carefully selected number of high-net-worth individuals and families, because investor visa applications demand a level of attention that volume practices simply cannot provide.

Why New Zealand Is the World's Most Compelling Investor Destination in 2026

The global investment migration landscape has shifted dramatically. Australia closed its Significant Investor Visa on 31 July 2024. The United Kingdom shut its Tier 1 Investor route in 2022. Spain followed suit in April 2025. For high-net-worth individuals seeking residency in a stable, English-speaking, common-law jurisdiction, the options have narrowed to a handful of credible programmes.

New Zealand's Active Investor Plus visa stands apart, not because it was the only one left, but because the government redesigned it to be genuinely competitive. The April 2025 overhaul dropped the minimum from NZ$15 million to NZ$5 million (approximately US$3 million), removed the English language requirement entirely, and reduced physical presence to just 21 days over three years.

The result speaks for itself: 635 applications by March 2026. NZ$3.73 billion (~US$2.2 billion) in committed investment. A programme that attracted more capital in ten months than its predecessor managed in two and a half years.

Active Investor Plus Visa: Common Questions

Answers to the questions investors ask most often before their first consultation.

What is the Active Investor Plus visa, and who qualifies? expand_more

The Active Investor Plus (AIP) visa is New Zealand's primary residence pathway for high-net-worth individuals willing to deploy capital into the local economy. There are two categories: Growth, which requires NZ$5 million invested in higher-risk assets and 21 days of physical presence over three years, and Balanced, which requires NZ$10 million across a broader asset mix and 10 days of presence over five years. Applicants must demonstrate lawful source of funds, meet character and English-language requirements, and commit the capital for the full investment period. There is no upper age limit and no formal business experience requirement.

What counts as a qualifying investment under the Growth category? expand_more

Under the Growth category, the full NZ$5 million must be placed into higher-risk, productive investments approved by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise. Eligible assets include direct equity in New Zealand private companies, qualifying managed funds focused on local growth businesses, and venture capital vehicles registered for AIP purposes. Listed equities, residential property, philanthropy, and bonds are not eligible under Growth. The capital must remain invested for the full three-year hold period, with reporting obligations to Immigration New Zealand throughout.

What happens after the investment period ends? expand_more

Once the investment period concludes (three years for Growth, five years for Balanced) and all presence and reporting conditions have been met, holders typically transition to a Permanent Resident Visa. Permanent residence removes travel conditions and allows indefinite entry to New Zealand without the need to maintain the original investment. From that point, capital can be redeployed, repatriated, or held as the investor chooses. After meeting standard residency thresholds, holders may also become eligible to apply for New Zealand citizenship.

Are family members included in the visa? expand_more

Yes. The principal applicant can include a partner and dependent children under 24 in the same application. Partners receive open work rights in New Zealand, and dependent children gain access to the domestic education system on the same basis as residents. Each included family member must meet health and character requirements, and the principal applicant's presence obligation does not extend to dependants. Once permanent residence is granted, all included family members hold the same status independently.

What does a licensed immigration adviser do that a fund manager does not? expand_more

A fund manager is responsible for deploying and managing your capital inside an approved investment vehicle. A licensed immigration adviser is responsible for the visa itself: eligibility assessment, source-of-funds documentation, application strategy, lodgement with Immigration New Zealand, and ongoing compliance through the investment period. The two roles are complementary but distinct, and under New Zealand law only a licensed adviser (or lawyer) can provide immigration advice for a fee. ProVisas is led by Inder Singh, a licensed immigration adviser (IAA #201301110), and works alongside your chosen fund manager rather than replacing them.

By Application Only

We Don't Work with Everyone. That's the Point.

Investor visa applications are complex, high-stakes, and deeply personal. We keep our client list deliberately small so every case gets the strategic depth it requires.
